Gender diversity is a business critical and well-established best practice in maintaining a strong board and governance system within a global company. To that end, Ethisphere will be creating a special initiative in 2016 and 2017 highlighting best practices in gender diversity and sharing lessons from the companies demonstrating excellence in cultivating gender diversity in the boardroom.

The goal of this initiative is to highlight thought leadership, key metrics & data and global trends in gender diversity, ensuring that resources are available to inspire companies to take action and expand their own gender diversity governance programs.

On Tuesday, February 7, 2017, Ethisphere will host a half-day Forum at the Nasdaq MarketSite, in Times Square, New York City, drawing from members of Ethisphere’s World’s Most Ethical Companies® and Business Ethics Leadership Alliance (BELA) communities to connect leaders and present interactive discussions on benefits and best practices in gender diversity.

Telling Your Story: How Much to Say and Who’s Asking?

We have all seen the research: diverse boards, and diverse management teams, outperform. But closing a diversity gap cannot be accomplished overnight. Effective disclosure of your current diversity initiatives, including succession planning – and the makeup of both your board and your senior management team – satisfies multiple stakeholders. But how much do you say and who is asking? Hear from an experienced panel on why investors care, how to structure your story and lessons learned.

Catching Up: How do We Close the Retirement/Investment Gap

Five out of six women in the US, according to recent research, are not saving enough for retirement. Part of that is the pay gap, but women are also more likely to save less of what they are making and to take breaks in contributing to a retirement plan. What can – and should – employers do to help? And how does catching up impact other diversity issues?

Finding the Fit: Recruiting Qualified Diverse Candidates

Commentators have connected the slow growth of women in the boardroom to the dearth of women in CEO or high-level executive roles at large multinational organizations. And if we limit “qualified” to that definition, recruitment is limited to a small pool (51 CEOs of the Fortune 1000 are currently women). Should we look beyond traditional criteria to recruit differently? And if yes, how do we best do that?
